Established more than 80 years ago this charming Inn is renowned for its friendly hospitality, superb service and range of recreational facilities amidst magnificent mountain scenery.
Feel at home in a choice of 25 tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms, family units, air-conditioned log cabins and thatched rondavels set in enchanting gardens.
Tasty teas and lunches are served on the Garden Terrace and a good winelist complements the Oak Room’s a’la carte dinner menu. A courtyard-styled thatched wing of rooms with mountain views and a pretty garden. Each bedroom leads into it’s own enclosed sun patio and four of the bedrooms have their own external patio. Bedrooms are individually decorated with a tasteful selection of both modern and classic-style fabrics.

Rose Court - Rooms 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17:
A wing of north-facing bedrooms as well as two thatched rondavels situated in a quaint garden setting without a mountain view. The bedrooms are decorated in various fresh, colourful schemes while the two rondavels have an East African theme. These rooms are ideal for young families or older couples
Pool Terrace - Rooms 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24:
A thatched wing consisting of family units and rondavels - some overlooking the bell-shaped swimming pool and out towards the surrounding hills and mountains - while others have garden views. These rooms are decorated in an enhancing fresh and modern décor scheme and are ideal for families with small children
Swiss Village Family Unit, Glarus - Room 25:
A cosy north-facing Alpine timber log cabin consisting of a main bedroom with a Queen-size bed, a second bedroom with twin beds, a lounge and a bathroom with a separate shower cubicle & bath. The lounge and bedrooms have an air-conditioning unit and under-carpet heating. Glarus is also equipped with tea & coffee making facilities.
A large sundeck equipped with sunbeds and garden furniture extends across the front of the cabin, commanding a picturesque view out over the mountains

Approaching Mossel Bay after passing the Mosgas refinery site on the N2, do not take the exit road into the town of Mossel Bay
Proceed along the N2 in the direction of George for approx 4km until you reach the road exit number 393, signposted Hartenbos R102 / Oudtshoorn R328
Take this exit road, turn left at the yield sign and left again at the traffic lights opposite the industrial area, onto the R102
Proceed along the R102 past the little town of Hartenbos, approx 3km and over the bridge, above the N2, the road then becomes the R328 to Oudtshoorn
From this point, Eight Bells is situated approx 28km inland on the R328 which passes the hotel’s front entrance, 1km from the foot of the Robinson Pass
Please note that there are no signs on the R328 directing you to the Robinson Pass, but only to Oudtshoorn
From Port Elizabeth / Knysna / George on N2:
After passing Great Brak and Little Brak river, approx 10km before the town of Mossel Bay, take the exit number 397 off the N2, signposted Hartenbos R102 / Oudtshoorn R328
Turn left at the yield sign travelling below the N2 Bridge
At the stop street, turn left onto the R102 signposted Hartenbos
Proceed for approx 1-2km along the R102 and over the Hartenbos River Bridge to the crossroad
Turn right onto the R328 in the direction of Oudtshoorn
Travel inland for approx 28km on the R328 and the road passes the hotel’s entrance at the foot of the Robinson Pass
Please note that there are no signs directing you to the Robinson Pass on the R328, only to Oudtshoorn.
From Montagu / Calitzdorp in the direction Oudtshoorn on R62:
Travelling from Montagu / Calitzdorp on the R62, a large vertical concrete map is situated on the right of the road on the border of the town of Oudtshoorn
At this point, turn right onto the R328 signposted to Mossel Bay
Eight Bells is situated 50km from this point on the coastal side of the Robinson Mountain Pass
Travelling along the R328 to Eight Bells, you will pass the Safari and Highgate Ostrich Show Farms
Eight Bells can be clearly seen when descending the Robinson Pass
The road passes the hotel’s front entrance
Please note that no signs direct you on the R328 to the Robinson Pass, but only to the town of Mossel Bay
