Malaria in Mpumalanga: warn your clients - 12 Oct 2017

Cases of malaria have been reported in Mpumalanga and, as a result, the Kruger National Park is advising visitors to the park to take necessary precautions.

Precautions include the use of prophylaxes and vaccinations in consultation with doctors, the use of repellents on the skin, wearing long-sleeved clothes when outside, keeping window gauzes and doors closed at all times, and ensuring that air-conditioners in the chalets are fully functional.

There are resident medical doctors permanently based in Skukuza, Kruger National Park’s main camp, and the public can consult them for information and advice prior to their visit to the park on +27 13 735 5638.

The KNP also asks visitors who contract malaria after visiting the park to immediately report this to the doctors in Skukuza, to assist with the record and identification of affected areas in need of attention.
